Scottsdale Series - Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts

Tito Muñoz, conductor

Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 5 in D major, “Reformation” Op. 107
Schumann: Symphony No. 2 in C major, Op. 61

• The first of two symphonies on this concert is Mendelssohn’s under- performed “Reformation” Symphony, a religious work with references to hymns and the styles of Beethoven and Mozart.
• Schumann’s Symphony No. 2, with clear inspiration from Bach, stands as an uplifting and heroic triumph in the face of his worsening health problems.
