Singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant joins The Phoenix Symphony to perform music from her latest album entitled Leave Your Sleep, based on literary inspirations and composed for expanded musical ensembles and orchestra, as well as songs from her previous top-selling albums. Merchant began her career as lead singer and lyricist for the alternative rock trendsetting band 10,000 Maniacs and later experienced a successful solo career with albums Tigerlily, Ophelia, Natalie Merchant Live, The House Carpenter's Daughter and Motherland. For her most recent album, Merchant adapted the poetry of E.E. Cummings, Ogden Nash, Robert Graves and more into songs influenced by klezmer, bluegrass, chamber music and folk. Be captivated by this “brassy, deep singer” as she performs live with The Phoenix Symphony.
