Christie's Farewell Concert
Friday, May 10, 2013 7:30PM
Scottsdale Center for the Arts
On Sale 8/1/2012
Michael Christie
, conductor
Dvořák:
Scherzo capriccioso
Mozart:
Symphony No. 38 in D Major, (
Prague
)
Lutoslawski:
Concerto for Orchestra
In what is sure to be a bittersweet yet triumphant concert, join us as we celebrate Michael Christie in his final performance with The Phoenix Symphony as Virginia G. Piper Music Director. In a very personal program, Maestro Christie and the Symphony take stage to perform Dvořák’s
Scherzo capriccioso
, a celebration in and of itself reflecting nature and the vibrancy of a village festival. This colorful and imaginative orchestration is paired with Mozart’s elegant Symphony No. 38, known as the
Prague Symphony
and Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski’s Concerto for Orchestra. Please join us and thank Maestro Christie for his eight years of dedication and accomplishment here in Arizona.
